Choosing between two offers

I'm currently in my last year of uni and I got two offers to choose from, Ally NYC and Mastercard STL, MO. While financially-speaking the choice is clear, I really wanted to live in NYC after staying there for the Amazon internship. The thought of moving to Saint Louis really brings me down. Besides that, if my goal is to hop to FAANG/better companies later on, which offer would be better? I was thinking that Mastercard has the bigger name but NYC might have better opportunities in the area. I got inclined for Amazon return but still am on the waitlist for a FT offer.

That's what I thought too - tried negotiating but they said no. Do you think Mastercard will be more helpful for career growth than being in NYC?

You'll save nothing in NYC you'll need to live with 3 roommates in faraway Bronx, Brooklyn or queens if you want to enjoy NYC

As new grad, I wouldn’t work in STL, MO. Here most of the people in Mastercard are laidback and I don’t want to talk about the city.

My point exactly. If I were to prioritize hopping to a different company (after a year or so), which one would you consider?

Just live in NJ to save money

That pay will be rough in NYC. Both are similar tier imo. MC might have better brand. You could also spend 2 years in STL and then jump.

Ask Mastercard if you could be based in NYC or purchase with the same salary. Not sure where you are currently located but if being in NYC is top priority see if they can be flexible. There is not enough space in our nyc office tho so you would need to be flexible in the commute to purchase at times
