I have an upcoming IT interview with TD bank in NJ. I know they have a big presence in Canada. Curious to know how they are doing in the US? IT culture, promotions, compensations and bonuses, layoffs? etc...i was told that they are expanding in the US and have a lot of upcoming projects in the pipeline. #td
TD is good. Canadian banks are great for culture
TD is OK. We’re hiring a lot due to issues retaining talent. Salaries aren’t that great but the environment is good. Most of the people I work with are cool, insurance is meh.
Bonuses aren't that great as compared to other big banks
Any chance you’re down to refer a friend who’s a good diversity candidate that’s graduating SWE bootcamp @TD?
They just acquired Cowen, to increase their presence in the american investment banking space. Culture i would say is top notch. TD also acquired Headlands recently , which is a trading firm similar to Citadel. I’m Canadian so the salary is in line with other Canadian banks (lower than tech companies). Not sure how the salary compares to other US banks (I imagine lower than JPM). No signs of layoffs and work is really team dependent. Try to find positions in New York, as far as I am aware, these roles are more related to TD securities, where there is more money and more interesting problems to solve than the roles based in NJ.
Also, forgot to mention but salaries at banks aren’t great at all. If you want to work at a bank, you can’t go wrong with TD but I’m personally trying to move out of banking to get a better paying job.
