As the world gears up for China and India to take big roles in geopolitics, I as an American sincerely hope that these two heavy hitters can approach geopolitics with the maturity befitting of a superpower. With great power comes great responsibility which requires a certain kind of humility. One of the hallmarks of humility is admitting that one is guilty of horrible acts. For example, we Americans admit that we stole our land from the Native Americans, Mexico, Hawaii, and others. We admit it was wrong. We admit that we committed genocide. While we aren’t giving the land back, we do at least own up to our crimes. Now what bothers me is how many Indians and Chinese walk around thinking their country is innocent of such crimes. The truth is both India and China are empires which stole land as well. Both of these countries are full of separatist movements among people whose land they stole. You can look up the list online. It would make the world a much better place if these two countries are as honest about its theft of land as America is. No ifs, uhms, or buts: that is unbecoming of a superpower. Let’s hear it!
TLDR? TC or GTFO
Seems only chinese stole the lands 😂
China and India were at the same spot economy wise until 1980. Difference is China actually improved the life and standard of living of their citizens by making their country an economic powerhouse and giving them jobs. Whereas India thanks to its illiterate politicians like Modi is still a third world country with mass unemployment, poor standard of living, corruption , pollution you name it. India cant catch up to China in even 50 years
Let’s not point fingers at others. Superpowers don’t need to belittle others to feel good because superpowers are already at the top.
I think you are from Pakistan or some India hating country Go fuck yourself who cares about your biased opinions
India didn't invade any country. Separatist movements are in all countries genius. Texas secessionsts, California secessionsts are some examples.
I’m not going to name names but look carefully at those separatist regions and see how they came to be within modern India. Hint: it wasn’t always voluntary or peaceful.
We Americans stole California and Texas. We admit it see?
What an unbiased poll!!
So as long as you own up to all the crimes it's all gucci. Stupidest thing I read this year
One of the major reasons US hegemony is in decline is because you have failed to contain these corrosive narratives. Why in the world would China or India want to replicate such a self-hating cringe when they could instead proudly own their history. Why can't you just stand up straight? You beat the native Americans because your people outmatched them in every respect, and by virtue of this fact, you won the right to rule. You making a big show of being oh-so mindful and apologetic for the misdeeds of your ancestors doesn't endear you to anyone. It makes you weak, and therefore despised and rejected and therefore you will be cast aside by people more confident and therefore deserving than yourselves.
When you can admit your sins it shows strength because it means that you do not feel threatened by your skeletons in the closet. It’s also being intellectually honest.
Except your so-called "sins" are simply the nature of nationhood, empire, power and conquest which have existed across the world since the dawn of time. Is America a good thing? If your answer is not an unequivocal "yes", then you have no right to rule a global empire, and you will be cast aside. People everywhere respect strength and despise weakness. To even accept that these things are sins that you should apologise for is to adopt the narrative frame of your enemies
I’m Indian and my land got stolen
See that is not how a superpower behaves. A superpower is not a perpetual victim.
It’s not being a victim. It’s a fact. Forgive but not forget! If Indians were acting as victims, first thing would have been asking for reparations from the british and other imperialists for draining trillions of resources from the land!
