If the market is down ( most likely will in the next couple of years), that's very high risk. How to diversify? Age 38 Married with kid
Request for blind wisdom 🤣
Diversify into real estate
This was a great idea until 2000-2008 repeats
That was a great time to buy
Easy to say if you know it will recover but can you really buy into a portfolio that has been negative for 10 years? Also that’s decades of work before 2000 evaporated. If you just didn’t do anything with your money for the 20 years before you’d come out ahead.
So many variables, but obviously your risk tolerance changes with your age, debt, and safety net. Do you have a family? Are you paying off a mortgage? In your 30s? Might want to only invest in index funds and keep 1 year of emergency savings. Are you under 27, single, and have upper middle class parents? YOLO it all into high growth potential tech stocks, you have very little to lose realistically, and a lot to gain as upside.
Go for physical real estate, gold, stocks, reit. I do 50% real estate - this is the first asset I bought since it needs a lot of capital, I had to save cash to buy a few. Next I bought some gold. Like 10% of NW. Physical gold bars . Now I'm slowly buying up stocks (like day trading - buy and not sell). I will wait until this reaches 40% of my target NW before, reaching a stage where I simply stop investing. Just will go into a phase where I will earn to live, until I'm forced to live on the above assets (selling or on returns). And no I don't sell once I buy, unless I have no other go
Thanks. Sell but invest where?
Mine 100 % is in stock market ! Keep booking profits and keep 30% cash to buy dips !
You have 100% in stock or 30% in cash?
