There were many layoffs before in non tech and tech companies. Like Circuit City close down(old one) and more recently FRYs, Macys, DSW, CVS, Bed Bath and Beyond. Is there more outpouring for companies like Twitter or MAANG then we show support for others? Do we understand their pain when they go through layoffs? #layoff #layoffs
What definition of "bias" are you using here?
Not just bias for tech. Tech employees seem to only view people in their exact same job function as worthy of concern.
This is probably just a human thing. How many non tech employees are telling us to cry them a river right now
Ha. Every layoff thread has at least 10 responses asking “any engineers” or “it included engineers, brutal”. That’s an autistic SDE thing bro.
The difference is that low paid workers can find new jobs extremely quickly, don’t suffer from a resume-perspective, and don’t have to toil with a strenuous interview process for months to come
Yes but low paid workers are more likely living paycheck to paycheck
