Need advice: Contractor to Fulltime

I am a recent Computer Engineering graduate who joined Cisco as a Hardware Engineer contractor after completing my degree in December. Eager to transition internally into a full-time role, my ultimate goal is to secure a Software Engineer position. While I am open to temporarily filling any full-time engineering role, my preference leans strongly towards the Software Engineering. I am also actively considering opportunities with other companies. Would love to hear any valuable advice or feedback to make this transition easier. Thank you in advance.
