What do you think about Wealthsimple in Canada ? How's the culture there - do you think they have good future prospects. TC 210K
I work there (came from faang). Culture is pretty good I would say. There’s a big focus on mental health. I have heard a lot of people complain about burnout, but it seems team specific. Thats also being worked on from the top, so its not just being ignored. As for growth potential, theres some big and exciting features coming this year that should smooth out a lot of the major issues folks have with the products.
What do you think of their upside given they are only focused on the Canada market?
Yeah its hard to say since everything is focused in Canada now. The growth from 2020-2021 was exponential with the bull market. Its slowed down a bit now though. If the upcoming launches this year go well we could see more exponential growth + different revenue streams. I’m going to be sticking around since I think theres a solid direction. Just hoping my options will end worth a lot haha.
Their trading app is crap as it was only good for free TSX trading. Now, national bank and desjardin are providing commission-free trading for both usd and cad. I don't any point to WS. I don't see how WS will grow in future.
