YOE: 2.5 TC: 62K EUR I know I think I am lowballed as well, but I honestly don't care anymore tbh. IDK why am I writing this, but I just wanted to share and see what others think, I am not looking for any kind of validation but would like to know IF someone else thinks like me. My main motive to form India to EU was that I want to leave the toxic insane competition behind and leave BLR because living in BLR was like living between a very techbros weirdos who just "live for the weekend", stuck in the traffic and shitty dust in my nose all the damn time, stupid social life and insanely high price combined with poor quality of life, yeah sure you can have a superb QOL if you invest a lot, but I don't wanna do that. It's a shitty city to live and grow IMO, I lived there for 23 months to be exact (Apr 2018-March 2020) I moved to Germany from India 7 months ago for the first time, with just one goal in mind, just be open and say yes to all the experiences. And fast forward to today, not only I have experienced a lot, I think I learnt a lot after moving away, made a lot of friends from all over Europe, like actual good friends, met a lot of girls, I think more than I ever met in India (who actually don't judge you based on your looks, seriously, I think I struggled with that a lot back home) and in the middle of all this, I travelled a lot. Now coming to the money part, I make around 3000 EUR every month(no bonuses/RSUs/EOSPs and all that shit, I also don't even know what that means), I save around 1000-1200 EUR every month(I transfer that to my savings account every time I get the salary). My rent is 590 EUR for a 60-65m2 apartment in Berlin (I know, I got lucky) and the rest of it, I give to my brother in the US and idk eat out or do groceries. I had 3% raise today which made my TC from 58K to 62K today, I didn't care if it was a lot of hike or not, my manager said I am performing well and with this pace, can get promoted by the end of the year, I told him literally " tbh, I think I am fine as far as the money goes, I have a great learning experience and I honestly don't care about money". At this point, I don't really wanna go "above and beyond" to "get that promotion" or "have a great learning curve", I just want to live and enjoy my life, moving to Germany taught me one thing is that there is a life outside of work, sure there are people who just work for the money, but I realised I can't, I just want to get paid decent and move on with my life. I am 25 at the point of writing this, if you are under 25, please share your experience with money and if you are above 25, please tell me if I am doing ok, because tbh, I fucking don't care about "growth, learning, opportunity, upskill" that much anymore, I just do my work, and do other shit. #tech #life #money #europe #germany
Hey, only saw this now! I'm a bit older than you (already in my early 30s) and I think you're on the right track. There's so much more to life than just work. That being said, I think you should never tell anyone who decides about your salary that you're fine as far as money goes. I think you already understood that the promotion and your raise is just a carrot on a stick to keep you grinding, and that's great! However if a promotion / raise comes along without you having to do too much, why not take it? ;) BTW I'll be joining DH soon, shoot me a DM if you want to connect :)
Well said bro✊I’ll br outta here soon
Except faang no one will match ur Uber tc. It will take same mindset as OP to get out
Hello Uber and Wayfair, tbh, trust me when I say this, you can easily save a lot with IF you at in IT, sure fair pay is always good to have but I don't think for me, it's the only thing, I value culture, leaves, and other 50 diff stuff over getting that 10% raise from my prev TC or that promoted role at the new place, I just left all of this BS, that is not for me, I don't even dream to be at one of the FAANGs anymore. IDK but once I started to care less about all that, I started to get calls from all the top tech companies. But I don't care tbh.
