People who just ping with a "Hi" out of the blue and then say nothing until replied to, why do this? Or worse yet, asking for a call without telling me what do you want to talk about beforehand. When the time comes to call, it's just a single line question which only has a single line answer. -_- Does typing out extra stuff into the chat break your fingers or sumtn? This is quite annoying to deal with on a daily basis. Please atleast send a piece of info about what you want to talk about. If nothing else, I can atleast reply by typing "I don't have updates rn" instead of calling to say the same thing. #culture #officelife
hi
Send them this - nohello.net
nohello.net politely ask them to look at that site
Same shit in JP Morgan, hate that shit. I’ve stopped replying to Hi now
I don't respond. When management asks i say people are rude or are trying to ask for help completing tasks without directly asking.
I don't ping with "hi", but I will keep openers short in case the person I am reaching out to is with someone or on a call. That way discreet topics are kept private, or I am less likely to distract. I have a colleague that pings with long questions regardless of whether I am on a call and it drives me nuts.
Skill issue. The colleague asking everything out is good, you are just a brainlet
I don't care how long a message as far as nobody pings me when presenting. Disable the chat notification sound effects, will help improve focus on whatever task you are doing and once you reach a checkpoint, just check email/chat.
I agree with the “hi” and no follow up being annoying, but as for the call thing is it that hard for you to click accept call and speak to another human for a few seconds?
It's hard when it's a cubicle right beside an open break room where people chit-chat and I have to go find a privacy room. All that just to stare at my 14inch screen like a boomer instead of the monitor at my cubicle.
Drives me crazy. I’ve noticed this mostly from a certain group of people. I ignore it. Tell me what you want. Don’t set some weird trap of waiting till I say hi back.
Same shit happening in Microsoft
