Update: Rejected after 8 business days. No feedback provided. TC: 0 YoE: 0 Just finished my first onsite with Meta on Feb 23rd (coding rounds three days before that). I’m a fresh phd grad and role was for a research scientist in systems. I wanted to ask if not receiving feedback the first week is a red flag. Immediately after the interview (10minutes) I emailed my recruiter to thank them and they responded within 2 minutes, telling me what to expect: “senior engineering team will have a candidate review process (up to 2 weeks). If all feedback is positive, then team matching or if not follow-up. Then after all this, offer”. I think all my technical rounds were good (2 x coding and 1 x sys design) but the behavioral was a little awkward. I just wanted to ask more experienced interviewees about their experience on feedback duration. P.S. The company I used for this account is from internship and there is only one other person on blind:) So i was scared to post openly. #meta
Typically meta is pretty fast but lately there are some slowdowns
Recruiters need to await all onsite interviewers to provide their recommendations & feedback before being able to reach back to you on next steps. Waiting can be unnerving yet no news is good news. Good luck!
I think a longer wait is better I was rejected like 3 days after onsite
Damn, sorry to hear that. How did your onsite go?
Tbh. I thought I nailed every coding question as all were tagged and I had been doing them obsessively, the behavioral and sys design I thought I did well too. I think either I didn’t do so well or that the market is so saturated and full rn that it’s hard to get in. I haven’t scheduled feedback call with recruiter yet but said they want me to interview again? Idk. I’ve had other interviews and the sentiment is the same. 100’s of applications in hours, etc.
Had my onsite on Monday, immediately emailed my recruiter to touch base and ask what the remainder of the process would look. Haven’t heard anything back since, feeling like it’s probably a rejection. Did really well on 3/4 rounds but bad on one coding round.
Bad means how bad? Higher levels and a slight miss in coding is acceptable or asked to do a follow up.
First question I got hints but couldn’t come up with a solution. Second question I got the optimal solution and coded it, but there was a small bug. E4 (maybe E5) target. Other rounds were great and resume is strong. Not too hopeful.
I finished my onsite two weeks ago. Still no update!
How did the onsite go?
Could you share the ML sys design question asked ?
My interview didn't have an ML sys design, more like backend/infrastructure design.
Did you hear back yet?
Nope. But I wasn't really expecting to since I made this post during the weekend. Hopefully I'll hear back next week. Do you you think I should ping the recruiter, even though they already contacted me after the interview and said it can take up to 2 weeks to get the feedback (only been 1 week yet)?
I’m in exactly the same position, except I haven’t heard a peep from the recruiter all week. I’m planning to ping them again tomorrow, I would probably do the same if I were you but maybe that’s just because I hate waiting in the dark lol. Good luck!
The longer you wait the lower the odds of success
