T-Mobile just announced 5K (7%) job cuts this AM. More companies to follow Iām sureā¦ https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/24/tech/tmobile-layoffs-5000-employees/index.html
we are often first ones in layoff cycle... expect more throughout... we laid off 2K in 2022 aug then followed tech companies with big numbers...
Eek, I was gearing up to apply there. š¬
Yeah, was about the same time last year too (September 1, 2022)
Welcome to bidenomics
Mass layoffs were happening under Trump as well. Trumpenomics. One of the biggest stock markets crashes too.
Donāt mix facts with fiction, the mass layoffs of 2022/2023 was under Biden.
Any info on the job roles that were laid off?
No one has been laid off yetā¦. It was just announced. Notifications will be happening throughout September
Actually people have. I was one of them.

RIP
Rip? Lol it is a job, not life
Oops, forgot to say 'RIP TC'
Ouch. I seem to remember some BS during the Sprint merger where the CEO promised that the combined company would be jobs positive and only grow in jobs after the deal closed. I donāt know the employee count but itās got to be net negative at this point. Where are all the angry politicians at? Probably canāt break up the company at this point, but they could drag TMO through the mud and destroy the BS reputation.
I believe we are net 7k jobs negative. All smoke and mirrors. All the politicians got their bribes, why do they care now
And that's before these layoffs.
T-Mobile has been quietly laying off thousands for at least the last year and a half. At least Sievert finally grew some balls and actually acknowledging this new round. Sievert took a company that was actually winning and drove it into the ground. It boggles my mind why he's paid so well.
Agreed. He has some strange hard-on for Sprint leaders and failed way of doing business. He worked at AT&T and and Clearwire, so he is trying to make T-Mobile in to a magenta Sprint. Also, homeboy lead part of Windows Vista at Microsoft, which I think we can all agree was a heaping pile of shit. There isnāt an innovative bone in his tiny body.
This is different. This was part of a big āworkforce transformationā initiative and was coordinated across the company instead of being piecemeal by org.
When Verizon layoffs
Probably following soon. In all seriousness, expect layoffs in att and verizon too. Higher interest rates hammer large corps who borrow each year
Sprint was a pile of debt when the merger closed.
Bidenomics is working
Lol Care to explain why you think that this was caused by Bidenomics?
Building back better š¤£
