I have a good offer for product position at Etsy. I like the space they are in, quite happy with the offer but only question is about risk of layoffs covering the market situation. Can folks at Etsy comment about the mood inside the company and how safe is the tech side of business from mkt conditions. #etsy #etsyhiring #etsylayoff
The mood seems good. I have a director friend and I know they're expanding. And these kind of business perfom even better in recession
Congrats OP!! I really wanted to get an interview with them for a PM role, applied to multiple roles with referrals but was rejected from all. Would you please share how many years of PM experience you have? I suspect my YoE and no big names on my resume hurt my chances.
if you’re not in NY, which is where the roles are, is likely the reason being rejected.
Oh wow, thank you for this info! Even for roles that say remote? Do they really want people to be hybrid based in NY even when they say remote?
Actually they fully support remote. I am going to be remote and half the interview panel was remote. I do have lot of relevant experience for the position
Hey Im trying to break into PM roles from SDET (and part time scrum master). I have extensively worked with PMs and Sales Engineers. Have also worked on my side project to hone PM skills. I get rejected because I don't have PM title. Do you think I stand a chance for Microsoft PM interview ? I have received a call for Program Engineer position last year but couldn't get through.
That will be hard. However internal role switching is much easier. So you can get in as a SDE (there are no sdet roles) and after a year apply internally. Focus on sales or program engineering roles as they seem better fit for you.
Is this for IC3? What’s your YOE?
Offer sounds good to me for PM. I applied to a GPM role there today. Waiting to hear back.
We're in a hiring slow down, but the mood is "well, makes sense given market conditions". Etsy had lay offs in 2017 and I hear from long timers that the mood back then was much different. Generally Etsy invests heavily in tech, and especially if your role is in search/ads, that org makes most of the money in Etsy, so you'll be the last to go if worst happens.
What level op? Is this staff level?
2022 was golden, 2023 was 10% pip and 2024 layoffs may be ?
