Hey ! I am currently on mid-fourth year of H1-B. I have little less than 2 years left on work visa. I am on my early PERM process with the current company. With the recent changes in the company leadership and policies, I don't see my career progression here anymore and wants to switch to another better opportunity. However, I'm thinking of pursuing Management studies but I'm trying to understand what it means to my current visa status. Many management programs are now offered under STEM. Could someone please guide me how the visa works and what it means for me given my situation. 1. If I plan to switch to another company, do I have enough time to restart my PERM process. I guess not but what are my options here ? I can only fasten i-140 in premium processing once PERM is complete. 2. If I think of pursuing Management opportunity under STEM on Student visa, do I still have less than 2 years on H1-B ? My profile - Designation: Snr. Cloud Platform Engineer YOE: Overall 9 years/ 5 years with Citrix TC: 145 K in North Carolina TIA :)
Getting PERM and i140 done through your current employer seems to be the best option. If I were you I would suck it up for another year or so.
Try for O1 or EB1A visa
Get i140 and leave. Since you have started the process and and with current processing timelines it’s better to complete it asap
Ah that TC is horrible. Do something man.
Yes the TC is shit here. But a good learning curve until the Executive Leadership made everything even more shitty here.
Just being a Blinder 🙂 Don't mind. Godspeed in your endeavours.
Move to Canada through internal transfer of possible after getting i140. After 1 year of experience you can claim points in Express Entry which leads to PR
Wait for perm. You do not have enough time to restart the process.
I recommend a part time MBA (personal experience), saves you a lot of money and you can keep your job. Your company may also pay part of the tuition.

1. Do you mean new degree is eligible for STEM extension? If yes, you will have 3 years on OPT and its enough time for GC to get 140 approve. But what about your current H1B? If you change current status to F1, you gonna lose h1b status means that you can not work. Either you need CPT to continue current job or wait till OPT. 2. Your h1b going to be terminated as soon as you join the college. I would not suggest you to go through this process again, rather wait for PERM approval and do premium I140
A question - If I change my status to F1 with FT MBA program, once graduation is complete does my H1-B clock restarts after finding a job or will continue based on my previous experience.
