Got an offer from Facebook for an E4 PE (Production Engineer) position. TC: $286 Base: $169k Sign-on: $30k Stock: $100k Perf bonus: 10% Before the virtual on-site I asked which salary level I’m interviewing for. They responded with E5/E6. So, I was surprised to hear that they only offer E4 to me. I have a very good feeling about the interview. They asked me exactly what I prepared for. E.g., I knew the Sys Design question, and knew the leetcode answers beforehand. When I asked the recruiter, she said that the level depends on the years of experience and the interview performance. She told me that she only got positive feedback from the interviewers. Even after showing her counter-offers from Apple ($370k TC), and Citadel ($390k TC) they didn’t increase the offer. Anyone else made that experience? Experience: 7y + M.Sc. CS Current TC (which, ofc, I didn’t tell the recruiters): $200k
Well the choice seems obvious here. Both Apple/Citadel arw paying almost 100k more which is no small amount and the fact that Apple has good refreshers as well, unless you arw really passionate about Citadel, Apple seems like the winner here. Also, I Afaik PE isn't the same as Swe. They work more on internal facing tools which obviously isn't the same as consumer facing product.
Yea with that exp I would NOT accept a non SWE role at FB. FWIW SWEs also work on internal tools--thats not the distinction.
Great for E4 level, about 60k more than I was making. But frankly I would choose Apple if I were you (I went to SQ)
I have production engineer interview upcoming. Did you got system design interview as one of the interview round
Hi OP, congrats on your FB offer. But I just had a doubt, I heard they were on hiring freeze for anything <E5. Do you know when does FB started hiring for E4/E3? Congrats once again!
OP, What were your coding questions? Leetcode? If yes, Easy or medium or hard?
Stock is per year?
