Infosys hiring 10,000 US workers

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-infosys-usa-idUSKBN17Y09Y "India-based IT services firm Infosys Ltd plans to hire 10,000 U.S. workers in the next two years and open four technology centers in the United States, starting with a center this August in Indiana.. " Anybody know where the other 3 centers will be? I'm guessing lower cost areas. Anybody have inside information on this? One guess would be Texas (San Antonio or DFW). Just a guess though.

well looks like Trump's policies or threats are doing something. anyone else seen a bump in tech work demand lately? been getting calls from old contacts for legit gigs recently

I think the first thing we would be hearing about is a massive spike in H1B rejections in comparison to prior years.

Google sneshnesh May 4, 2017

if I were Trump I wouldn't outwardly reject anyone. I would just delay the process and say I'm doing additional vetting. if the process takes 1-3 yrs because it's slow, then applications will naturally decline. you get what you want by reducing h1b1 but don't have to actually go through the trouble of legislating it

Jokes on you. They're gonna open these centers in tech deserts, pretend that they're hiring (in reality they offer a laughable salary to scare away US candidates), then complain they can't find any engineers, demand more h1b. This is a tried and tested strategy. I worked in Indy for many years, standard operating procedure for a lot of consulting companies set up in the area is to do exactly that. In reality they're h1B mills

Who knows. My friend worked for one of those H1B shops and he said that whenever they hired groups of Americans straight out of college, they came from all over. The office was in the Midwest but people moved from the West and East coasts for the job, despite the salary being $57k.

Notice they say US Workers and not Americans. Because they are now hiring people already with work authorizations.. These guys are just that sleazy.

Facebook Gøogle May 4, 2017

There's tons of low skilled tech Americans. I'm happy for this if it allows bringing the best in the world to keep increasing the gdp. I want more visas for amazing peeps.

WITCH companies should be blacklisted in USA

VMware yvJS68 May 5, 2017

So should vampire companies.

Square Eegs8f May 4, 2017

Usually with things like this it's a company milking some massive tax break/local incentive. A couple years down the line when those expire and they have to pay the cost of doing businesses, they'll lay all the Americans off again.
