Go for it. YOLO.

At late 30s and a big pay cut, I’d say no..unless you love the product.
No kids. Do it
100k in the Bay won’t go very far, maybe if they allow remote.
The product is interesting.. would it matter if I said they got a great seed round with a respectable VC in the bay?
All that is great but the big question is, are the founders delusional? Are they level headed? Understand the market? Can get customers and keep them?
Founders are level headed and have worked in this space before at big tech and other startups.obviously they can’t guarantee any outcome and are forward with that thought.
I’d be a founding member and employee number 5. I can pick my own title.
I don’t think a seed stage company really has a need for a PM. At that point, it’s all hands on deck building the MVP. If you’re not an engineer or sales/marketing/domain-specific expert then you might be deadweight. Unless you’re ok with those roles and growing with the company. My 2 cents. Source: friends at seed stage startups and interviewed for one myself
I won’t be a PM. You are exactly right. I’ll be wearing multiple hats and I look forward to this part.
Go for it! Sounds like an exciting opportunity. You can always boomerang back as you said. I will probably make a similar move in the future as an eng. Do you mind DM-ing me the name of the startup?
