Turned down Google offer, options now?

I turned down a L4 Google offer 3 months ago because of personal reasons. Is it possible to match with new teams and get an offer without going through HC approval again? Another question I have is I got the offer from an EngProd team last time, am I eligible to match with product/infra teams (or) I am only allowed to match with EngProd teams (is it a different interview process for EngProd and regular product/infra teams?) Just curious, did you not know you could pursue an internal transfer after taking the earlier offer?

I didn’t turn down the offer since it was EngProd(if that’s what you are referring to), it was because of personal reasons. Now I want to know if I will be limited to getting matched with EngProd teams or I could try for other teams as well?

Sorry, I don't have an answer. But the clarification is useful and maybe someone else will know.

Reach out to the recruiter who was in touch with you ?

How does one get a Google recruiter reach out or even respond to job applications? I have been trying since last few months and no response at all.

Google hodlgoogl Jul 21, 2023

Online applications are not reviewed by recruiters, so applying and following up with a recruiter probably won’t get you a response.

@hodl what about offline applications?

You can rematch with any team. EngProd are SWEs too. However, there is very little open right now. You may have trouble getting a recruiter to work with you as well since you already turned one role down.

Run away from EngProd. It’s a career suicide. It’s like playing support role in LoL/any MOBA, you only provide value if your carry (Engs) collaborates with you. Most of the times engs are focused on features and they don’t give a shit about your new shiny tool that will be deprecated in a year. You gotta chase them until they use your infra, and if something breaks they won’t trust you anymore. The only way you are rated for impact is by amount of SWE-hours saved, which is impossible to define if no one is using your tools. It’s still hard to define even if somebody is using your stuff. You don’t even have a product owner, so in your 80% of the time you would be doing surveys on what needs to be improved and what not. Then go through infinite design approvals, get your idea rejected, and restart after a month. If you cannot come up with some fancy tools you’ll be slowly ending up writing ENG’s tests. Been there done that. If I was Google and had to cut costs, I would probably start from here
