Had a recruiter reach out about a Lead Staff Software Engineer. Might be interested but don’t want to waste time interviewing if it’s going to be a worse deal then what I’ve got now. Looks like base pay is 240k-350k anyone have more info on this? Also what’s it like to work at Stubhub quite a drop in company prestige but base salary looks nice, any info on IPO/stock buy backs would be appreciated too. Also wtf is a lead staff software engineer? Is this just what you call your staff engineers or is it an actual management role? TC: 300k
Don’t join bud. The tech stack and complete unchecked power of your department head is crazy. Crazy thing about RSUs: They expire after 7 years - wish I knew that before joining. Lead Staff Software Engineer is a Staff Software Engineering with direct reports. Mix of IC + Management
That’s concerning thanks for the Intel. Organization sounds broken but getting my whole current TC in base sounds nice.. is stub hub even going to ipo though? Sounds like they’re screwing over their employees by have a 7 year expiration on RSUs when they aren’t even public
Whoswhos, did you not read your offer letter stating that before signing? SpaceX, take everything with a grain of salt. There’s shitty things about spacex and just about every tech company. No where is perfect. I’m here and enjoying it and not experiencing anything negative with my dept head. I see an IPO happening soon so I’m not worried about the expiration clause.
What do you mean it’s a worse deal? It will double your tc, better wlb, and IPO is imminent.
I’ve been reading around, low transparency on IPO and stock valuation for RSUs seems to be over valued. I actually really enjoy working at SpaceX plus I have a lot of job security here and the stock is rapidly growing. Not saying it’s a worse deal but it could.
But yeah on paper, it seems like a better deal
