Internal promotion within Twilio (different team) vs. lead engineer at a prop tech startup. Would likely have more impact at a startup, but Twilio seems safer and is a bigger name, plus I would get additional (amount TBD) RSUs which is closer to real money than startup options. Edit: Twilio base is $200k
Twilio pays staff eng in NYC a base of 180k? Yikes
Per the post, OP posted their comp as internally promoted senior, I'm guessing staff will bump them to low $300K.
The poll lists the title as staff. We cannot really evaluate the offer if that’s not the actual expected number. That said 180 is low even for senior. Edit: To clarify, I’m specifically talking about base. I’m aware that OP said that RSU grant is TBD.
You are underpaid but should keep interviewing. $240K is low for Staff at Twilio. Have some L6 coworkers who left to join Twilio as Staff and they were getting mid to high $400Ks. There are also offers in this range on levels.fyi
twilio gets my vote
$240k for staff? Geez that is low
Why is your Twilio comp so low? I make more than that as an L3
That’s less than I make as an L4. And I know a bunch of fellow L4s in the same pay band as me.
Run away from Twilio, other round of layoffs are probably coming
Is the promotion approved already? I've seen that carrot long enough that I am planning to leave soon
Twilio is a shtshow right now. Don't come here. Likely there is going to be another round of layoffs
