I would like to collect cases who got rejected (and also who didn't get rejected) with their H1B when they have a non-CS background and applied to CS/DS (Data Science) positions. So far I only have 0 cases who got rejected when I look at blind. I see a lot of people showing panic but not continuing how the story ended. And one case of a person from Bloomberg who made in CS despite taking MechE Masters. Are there more examples? I would appreciate it if you state: Country, work ex in CS/DS before switching, masters branch (or point to links of people with definitive conclusions) TC:66k Netherlands Thank You. #career #tech #MechE #DataScience #CS #ComputerScience #H1B #rejection
No one will update blind if they get denied. There is no pattern. I know few cases which got denied and with the same documents approved vía consular processing. No way to predict!
Maybe that is the thing... I have seen a few examples of people who posted back when it worked out for them!
You need to look at official figures. Search on Google.
Official figures of rfe rejection? You mean? But I am worried about why the rejection happened! Is this available?
One of my friends is BS and MS in mechanical engineering he switched jobs between Adobe, Roku and Amazon in 1.5yrs no probs so far I've done BS in mechanical and masters in information systems myself no prob so far, 2 jobs since initial H1
How on earth is your friend proving that his degree ties to what Adobe requires. Serious question...
By showing his leetcode profile may be?
Why don’t you check out other sites like trackitt, h1b trackers etc?
This is great! Thanks!
Why something got rejected is a tricky question to answer. There have been lawsuits on USCIS to figure that out as they have been rejecting more applications after 2016. Check out recent news on this.
I have a friend who is an industrial engineer. He got picked in the lottery first year, received an RFE for a DS job, and faced a rejection. Next year, the company filed it as a different occupation (don't remember exactly but can check with him) and he received an acceptance.
Was your friend Indian?
Did he do masters in US? What was his bachelor's? Thanks! @bausch
Denials are going to reduce: https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2020/03/09/judge-slaps-down-uscis-in-significant-h-1b-visa-court-case/amp/
H1b might be fine. Gc will be definitely a problem.
Dutch salary is still abysmally low...
My friend had both bachelor and masters in statistics (US degrees) and she got denied for a recent transfer into a DS role.
Hi can you tell me the country and years of experience before switch?
And denied as in rejection on didn't get in lottery?
