Interviewing with pandora for one of their analytics teams later this week. I was approached by the recruiter (who was really nice) for the role and she told me she wanted me to have a quick chat with the director as a next step. Is this typical? Don't they usually have a technical screening first? (Tableau, sql etc)
Yeah, this is a little out of the ordinary, but I can second that we're having a hard time holding onto talent at the moment.
I'd say harder time than before but we still have it better than most tech companies.
Which organization?
The team falls under strategy, subscription analytics
It's quite typical to chat with director first, want to see if there is a cultural/personality connection before putting you through the paces of doing a tech screen... it's a great team, good luck and enjoy the process!
Thanks for validating that for me. So far I've heard good things so looking forward to to it
I wouldn't say that the company has a hard time attracting talent, the bar is still high and on par with other companies in the area. I wouldn't read too much into why your hiring manager wants to talk to you first. It could be because you're strong local candidate. Or it could be because that's how that particular dept is doing their hiring. In any way, good luck and enjoy the process. The company and its culture is a hidden gem.
How did the interview go ?
For strong candidates I imagine they skip a step. But they aren't doing so well and may be having trouble attracting talent.
Guess that makes sense, just curious: how cool is it working at twitch?
I am curious of that as well, and if you wouldn't mind telling us what do you do there?
