[H1B] How to return stimulus check so as not to affect greencard application

Hi folks, I graduated college in 2019 and since my income then was <10k a year in college, I automatically received a stimulus check deposit in my bank account in 2020 after starting my new grad job at msft. However, since I am not a citizen, how do I go about returning this money so that it does not mess up with my green card application? (Public charge). Currently using Turbo Tax deluxe to file taxes. Dont take it as you will not be able to select No for - if you ever took releif package money from govt in your stay at US. This may trigger rfe during your green card process.

Oh I didn’t really have an option. Since I filed taxes last year, it was automatically deposited in my account.

Don’t listen to google. Stimulus check is tax refund and is not considered public charge. If you want to return stimulus check, then by the same logic you’ll have to return any other tax credit you took in your returns. So just keep it. Source: lawyers ( Fragomen)

Stimulus is ok to cash. I had the same doubt last year. But my immigration lawyer confirmed it is ok. Cheers.
