Quip search is crap

Salesforce folks, do you know about it? What are you guys using internally? Specifics: - it doesn't show documents that meet search criteria - it is ridiculously slow (30+ seconds) - you can't open more than one document using the same search window - you can't search easily in the current folder - you can't search for documents where are you or someone else are tagged

Amazon prime search is also shit

Amazon duejnndn Mar 1, 2023

Google search is getting worse everyday

Apple MDeSanta Mar 1, 2023

You should try quip search before drawing any parallels. It is really bad.

Amazon justquitit Mar 1, 2023

Yeah, Quip is awful. Iā€™ve noticed Amazon internal tools tend to have terrible search functionality (builderhub being a prime example)

Salesforce houndforce Mar 1, 2023

Quip is actually a product Salesforce sells šŸ˜£

Amazon justquitit Mar 1, 2023

Yeah my bad, I worded this as if itā€™s an amazon-built tool. But we use it internally, sadly haha.

Salesforce frvghbv Mar 1, 2023

Amazon DaTRill May 17, 2023

Salesforce DepokMargo Mar 1, 2023

Weā€™re using Googe Docs instead.

Amazon below90 OP Mar 1, 2023

LoL, the company doesn't use its own products

Salesforce hehe xd Mar 1, 2023

It depends on the team. I mainly see quip - whenever I see google docs itā€™s usually some outdated doc

Amazon quipdoc Mar 1, 2023

Yes, itā€™s the new Chime.

Salesforce jxwf Mar 1, 2023

Itā€™s awful. The fact that Salesforce paid $750m for that crap is beyond my comprehension.

Salesforce coreislife Mar 1, 2023

A lot of our team uses gdocs

Salesforce mcconaughe Mar 1, 2023

We laid off the search team to pay Mathew McConaughey

Salesforce ubfbjbd Mar 1, 2023

I think the search bar is just HTML tied to no actual functionality. Nothing is ever returned when I search. Quip over rides browsers cntrl + f search functionality, which makes it even worse

Salesforce sf_dino Mar 2, 2023

I think fundamentally, document search is trash. If you choose to search the whole document, than you just get noise for any document above 1-2 pages. If you choose to only search the headers(i.e title 1-3 ) than you miss out on content that could be crucial. Quip is really built for collaborative document building, with excessive opportunity to comment on every single line. Its search criteria is mediocre, and definitely slow. But if you ever need to build a document, where people are pouring over every single line and word, with tons of back and forth communication, its unmatched. At least quip has some type of folder structure, because trying to find a document/presentation in google docs from last week is impossible in an enterprise setting.
