I'm outcast. Abnormal

I have no intention of settling abroad. Having lived in Canada, UK, USA, I never filed for ILR/PR. Everyone around me discusses Visa status etc. I try to blend in. But it feels really weird... I just don't feel alive outside of India. Only abroad to make quick money. Reach FI of the FIRE. Then head back and live a chill life. I've no ambitions of making a few millions. I have no intentions of expensive European vacations. They all feel so superficial to me. I have no intention of buying expensive luxury. I don't even have hots for luxury cars. I just like to listen to good music, spend time with family, stay close to nature, eat healthy food, work out. Play sports/video games. I just can't find similar people around.

Me - left cushy hedge fund job to be in India. Working in a no-name tech firm haha to be close to family.

You have clarity with what you want in life, that a lot of people dont. I think thats great!

Thx mate!

Plenty of people in US have those goals. Maybe you’re in a bubble?

Meta RajaBhoj OP Feb 16

Maybe a lot of them are just pretending to look cool and not an outcast?

I am the same kind of person, except I don't play video games and don't post about it on blind. Just be confident with your decisions and choices, you don't have to defend them to everyone.

Man , many have that desires, including me. But where I differ from you is I don't want to go back and settle in India. Neither do I have as such a desire to stay in US. But being able to travel the world after reaching FIRE would be great. Not as a vacation but as a lifestyle. I do feel much more comfortable in many parts of USA . And I wish and hope to get my family here. But alas family doesn't want to be here. So life goea on in a tussle. Settling back in current India seems more of a hassle. It is not the same simple quiet life. It is expensive, polluted and full of shitty politics

Same goals. Just that I don't have clarity on when to execute. Will be 40s in couple of years, not even close to F in FIRE.

I feel the same way.

Meh! I missed my family when I moved to US. But instead of going back, I just got them here! Problem solved 😂

Meta RajaBhoj OP Feb 16

Indians can't do that
