At Meta for 2 years and can say that Meta waste a lot of money. It doesn't feel like they spend money responsibly. Some of the things like - Phone / Laptop renewal every 2 years vs standard 3 years. Data Center hardware renewal every 3 years (AWS is 5 and Azure is 6 years). - Business class international trip (for all levels). - All these internal summits and conferences in locations like London or NY. My entire team decided to go to London from US just for a 2 day hackathon (10K expense per head). - Keeping the office contract staff pre-covid level, even though every other company has reduced the staff. - Construction of new offices still going on. - Food benefits are nice. But for every 1 FTE, there are 2 non-FTE also eat for free. - Metaverse (above all). - Swags - there is a limit to the number of hoodies/T-shirts I can wear or Mugs/backpacks I need. I also don't like to wear office branded clothes outside of office. I am not complaining about benefits, but I tried to list things that just feels like pure waste of money. TC - 500K

How is Qualcomm these days? Went through some troubled times with layoffs in the 2016-2018 time frame. Has morale recovered? Howâs the TC for staff and above?
TC is đ„ that's the biggest disadvantage. However you can learn a lot because Qualcomm is jumping into all kinds of new tech these days - AI stack, AR, VR, ADAS, wearables etc. Decent morale but there's a need of a competitive TC otherwise people will keep jumping ship

This dude doesnât understand that these perks are differentiators that attract people to Meta. If these benefits werenât there, would Meta be as popular to work at? Maybe youâd like somewhere where they are super cheap on you. Maybe youâll be happier because your company would be âfrugalâ?
How does Data center hardware, new office construction etc a perk. I donât get any benefits out of it or increases my Morale.
Not every expense is directly only for employees. Itâs indirect benefit. If updating data center and building new buildings is increasing business (hopefully) wouldnât you (if you continue to work at Meta) benefit from increase in TC
