The shooting happened at around 5 p.m. Sunday and was captured on cellphone video that was posted online. In that clip, which was taken from across the street, the Black man, who was later referred to by the governor as Jacob Blake, walks from the sidewalk around the front of his SUV to his driver-side door as officers follow him with their guns pointed and shout at him. As Blake opens the door and leans into the SUV, an officer grabs his shirt from behind and opens fire while Blake has his back turned.
C) Neither
> be police > stop suspect with prior conviction for brandishing a firearm in a public place > tell him repeatedly to stand still > he decides to walk over to his car and reach in the window anyways > gets shot
You need to compete the sentence to portray the entire picture small modification for last step Instead of gets shot -> gets shot in the back 7 times
I really don't see how someone with their back towards you with a possible gun is substantively less dangerous
At the very least the police officer should be fired for being a terrible shot. Seven times point blank in the back and the dude is still alive. Unreal. I will reserve further judgement until the rest of the facts come out.
Oh! I know! I know! He shouldn’t have resisted arrest. He shouldn’t have had a prior criminal record. But even though we know this, we should wait for the backstory and all the details. We know that once he would have turned around, he would have had a gun which is why him being shot in the back was totally American. The right thing to do. He doesn’t get to be presumed innocent because he was a criminal before. Cops should be able to murder prior criminals who have a history of being violent and who they suspect might harm them. Because they will harm them, we know this. This is totally acceptable behavior. In fact, we’ll probably find that he had drugs in his system and would have spontaneously evaporated anyway. I’m telling you, wait for the body cam footage!! Oh and we should again wait for all the facts because cops are totally trustworthy and always tell the truth. It’s their job!! What I miss?? 😃😁
Ya he should have complied with officer orders. It's really that simple. When you don't you put yourself and others in danger.
Totally. I mean cops signed up because they knew they would always get compliant criminals. Like who tf expects them to resist arrest??? Definitely immediate grounds for murder. That’s the law.
Awww 😢. I will totally spend the rest of my day thinking about this felon that hurt himself
I facepalmed hard watching the video. Its like these people want to die
Three facts He WAS not armed He was shot 7 times in the back He was shot in-front of his 3 children Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes said Jacob Blake was shot seven times by Kenosha Police Department. “Jacob Blake was shot in the back seven times in front of his children. And let me be clear, this was not an accident. This was not bad police work. This felt like some sort of vendetta being taking out on a member of our community,” he said in a live message streamed today. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers called for a special legislative session on Monday, one day after an unarmed Black man was shot by Kenosha police.
This was reply to your false assumption before filing charges try to defend police “Did they run out of teddy bears to give to armed suspects attempting to flee in their vehicles?” He wasn’t armed
What's the solution? Don't respond to black domestic violence? You know if you have 10K engagements with the police, you'll have a few fatalities. Of course we can always have better training etc... But you know engagements leads to fatalities.
No fatalities here, only shitty aim
Oh and now it looks like he was armed. The reason for the call was that he was waving around a gun at a bar. Would BLM protest if he killed other black people?
The fact that OP would post this is the issue. For god’s sake can you wait even a day for more info to come out? The fact that you jump to conclusions based on a video clip without any of the surrounding context is, frankly, scary. It could very well be that this was a huge abuse of power, but there’s a responsibility in waiting to make sure we have the facts first. People that are asking for these guys’ heads AT THIS POINT (again this could be a legit assault/murder, we’ll have to see and I hope he recovers) are the same people that would’ve drowned the witches in Salem just because a neighbor said so.
DoorDash please educate yourself before throwing accusations The reason for me posting this is NOT only the video but these Wisconsin Lt. Evers wants lawmakers to take up a bill package his office proposed earlier in the year to “increase accountability and transparency in policing,” address inappropriate use of force, and prohibit dangerous policing practices. In a video of the incident taken by a bystander, Kenosha police officers are seen shooting Jacob Blake. “We will continue to stand with those who have and continue to demand justice, equity, and accountability for Black lives in our country,” Evers said. “We also stand against excessive use of force and immediate escalation when engaging with Black Wisconsinites.” “We must offer our empathy. We must see the trauma, fear and exhaustion of being Black in our state and our country,” he added. IT IS NOT JUST A VIDEO THERE IS A REAL ISSUE
This is a governor talking, not an investigator. And once again, I’m not saying it’s not an issue. I’m saying we should wait for facts to come out. Is that really that hard to do? Please don’t copy/paste a news article as a response because that does nothing
How about we allow authorities to finish their investigation before jumping to conclusions, again. If appropriate, those involved will be prosecuted, just as they have in prior incidents.
Disagree, not true for prior incidents this is what I know : On Thursday, five months after Ms. Taylor’s death, her family renewed their pleas for justice. “Right now in Louisville people are still waiting at the 150 days for these officers to be arrested and charged,” the family’s lawyer, Ben Crump, said.
Well considering how Taylor's boyfriend fired on officers and Taylor was struck by returned fire, I don't see how the police did anything wrong.
