70k cash with lay off is enough?

I have 70k cash in my account. No house, no debts. Is it enough to live a good life even if I am laid off? Market is bad, not sure when I can get a job. I wish there’s no lay off in Disney

Monthly expenses?

2k rent, 500 for car gas and I insurance. Others can be flexible

It’s plenty then. A little over 2 years of savings, 1 year if your expenses double.

Depends on your monthly expenses and how long you want to be out of work for

Disney Streaming Services ccsops OP Dec 15, 2022

That’s a question I can’t answer. But 2500 is mandatory expense, other can be flexible

Dude, this is literally only you can answer. No one else can answer it for you

It's enough until you find a job again; that said you have to be frugal

Based on your last comment you have 2.5K non-discretionary spend a month. Just double it for cushion, 5K a month means you’d have 14 months of expenses paid. That’s more than enough.

Tell me you can’t do basic math without telling me you can’t do basic math…

Disney needs little birds, chipmunks, and a baby deer to do math 😀

You could do 3k a month and still have nearly 2 years. I’d say stick the 2500, and start looking hard in February. This gives you some time to chill, ppl to get back in the swing after holidays and gives you 4-6 months of leeway in case it takes that long to find something. If fall comes around and you’re still looking I’d personally be nervous

You’re fine with those expenses. Not to mention you will get severance and unemployment if laid off. You’re good!

Disney Streaming Services ccsops OP Dec 15, 2022

Severance at Disney is peanut

Disney streaming has layoffs?

Slack mLMe40 Dec 15, 2022

You need twice that amount, at least!
