We’ve been hearing about Southwest airline canceling thousands of flights due to staffing shortage over the past couple days but they are denying that it’s Covid vaccine mandate related. Now other airlines are cancelling flights too such as United and Alaska. Does anyone know what is the real reason behind all this? I have a feeling it actually is related to vaccine mandate.
Haven’t seen anything about United or Alaska. Southwest is different because they don’t really have major hubs, instead their planes fly from A to B to C to D to A. So problems can ripple down and affect many flights
I was supposed to fly United this morning and it was cancelled due to staffing shortage
Damn that sucks.

Worth a consideration
4.5m people quit their job in August. Easier and more lucrative to become a trader, creators, or crypto guru.
I work in crypto and as much as I wish this was the case, I don’t think all of those workers suddenly made enough money in trading and crypto etc to quit their jobs. Something else must be going on
Well they did...or at least enough for 4.5m to quit lol
They tried to blame it on FAA air traffic staffing shortages… FAA denied such shortages for the delayed flights on Saturday. Makes you wonder what’s really going on..
Yeah it all doesn’t make any sense
Yeah… what happened to all those burger flipping bots anyway
I think southwest pilots filed a restraining order against the mandates that was circulating online. I do recall larger citizen journalist type of social media accounts discussing pilots having health issues post vaccination as well. Something to do with high altitude, circulation, and cardiovascular issues being a factor. Could all be vax FUD. Or just one big coincidence.
Interesting! Thank you for sharing!
Pilots and ATC are having an informal sick-out due to the vaccine mandate. Pilots are mad as hell and don't want the jab. In theory, if a pilot were fired due to the vaccine mandate, they would lose their banked vacation days. So they have nothing to lose if they use up vacation days before getting fired. So they are doing just that. They also are retaliating because they don't support the mandate. An actual strike is not allowed, so there is no formal announcement from the union. The union may not even be involved. The media is not reporting these details because they never report on any inconvenient story regarding vaccines.
Chatted with a neighbor who is a southwest pilot. Airlines went super lean during covid. Pilots and crew could pick up extra routes if they wanted but now they are not, and the mandate is suspected to be a main reason. So not an official walkout, but maybe more of a teaser?
This seems to make more sense. The “sick-out” theory seems bogus since there was not an excess amount of sick pilots during that weekend. (According to them)
The fact that half the country (unsurprisingly the same half who vote liberal) have no idea why a good chunk of our transportation sector is out of commission right now should tell you everything you need to know about our media, politicians, and liberals in general.
Nope, we all know it’s because Southwest doesn’t have hubs and flies A to B to C to D to A. So due to weather if a plane cannot make it from A to B then that disrupts travel at C and D and further down the line
So why does United now have staffing shortages too?
Duh. Freedom!!
That’s what I’m thinking too
