I interviewed for a position at X, the moonshot factory and during the interview, one of the managers (I talked to a few) told me they are not impacted by the hiring pause/freeze. That was 2 weeks ago, already 2 weeks into the pause at Google. Now at the offer stage, my recruiter tells me X is also impacted by hiring pause. My understanding was X teams are lean and they don't have extra unnecessary people, and when they need to hire from outside, it means the need is already justified. Was this not correct? Any inside information about freeze from Xers? I'm seriously considering an opportunity with a small public company, but if there is still hope for X, I like to know. Have other Alphabet subsidiaries (Waymo, Verily, Wing, Everyday Robots...) also paused their hiring?
Moonshot freeze. Google mission to freeze the moon.
Can confirm that my recruiter at X said the same. Feedback was positive but then hiring freeze.
Just accept verbal offer from Wing one week ago. Hope thing goes well🙏
Verbal offer means nothing..
What kind of offer did you get?
Waymo still has teams that are actively hiring.
I would love to join Waymo (My dream job). However, after 10 applications. I think you guys only hire C++ developers. I'm JAVA :(
It's not a hard requirement for all teams, but our core technologies are c++. What departments are you applying to?
Is X still under a hiring freeze?
Talked to my recruiter yesterday. He said still no update for headcount approval, but the start date may be pushed to Jan 2023.
Do you already have an offer?
No, no offer yet
Just signed an offer from Verily
Good to hear! Congratulations!
Recruiter clarified today that the position I was waiting for has been deprioritized. Time for me to move on. Good luck everyone!
Sorry man
Hiring freeze everywhere now
