I’m currently M1 at Meta. I joined as E5, got a promo to E6, and immediately transferred to M1 about a year ago. It has been great and now I’m managing another M1. I’m not sure how far I am from M2. I’m reached out by an Amazon recruiter. I wouldn’t move unless it’s an L7 EM position, and the recruiter set up an interview for L7 ASM role. I know it could be challenging to get an L7 job, considering my short managing experience (~1 year). How much chance would I get? Any tip or advice would be appreciated. Depends on desperation of HM and quality/backbone of the BR.
dont doubt yourself. there are plenty of l7 at amazon who dont add value.
How much time to get promoted from E5 to E6?
Most these comments are not helping you. If you only have 1 year experience you're not getting an L7 role without lying in your interview and you'll likely fail in the role.
Just lie, say you have managed managers for more than three years now. And don’t underestimate yourself based on comments saying you will fail. It depends on person to person, just use examples of what your manager did
Sounds like you’re on a great trajectory at Meta. Why do you want to leave? I’d say just go do the L7 interview, at least to get a signal. See what the interview is like and how you do.
Very likely is that you will be downleveled to L5/6 after interview. You’d have to do heavy lying that too in an organized and consistent manner to be able to even get L6
I used to be an Amazon BR. Passing the interview means you’re better than 50% of existing L7 in the company. You might need to fabricate some stories to establish that given 1 yr management experience means you might not have all the datapoints they’re looking for. It takes a 6 - 12 month to get PiPped. Worst case just go back to meta. Top of L7 ASM band is over 800K
There are some good posts above, keep in mind meeting the bar for any level in Amazon means you should exceed more than 50% of that level to get the offer, it sounds like you likely hit a solid L6 SDM offer with what you have but maybe in a few years you should be good to hit the L7 Sr SDM bar with more management exp (that to be said, those are just realistic expectation but you can always give a try to get a sense of the bar first)

Should be a breeze. All L7 LP interviews come down to IC level impact anyway.
