Has anyone signed an Arbitration Agreement?
Asking for a friend. He's starting a contract job with TEKsystems and it's part of their agreement to sign an Arbitration Agreement. An arbitration agreement is "a contract in which you give up your right to bring certain claims to court. Instead, you agree that you may raise those claims only in an arbitration proceeding." The contract says "My affirmative signature and/or acknowledgement of this Agreement is not required for the Agreement to be enforced. If I begin working for TEKsystems, Inc. without signing this Agreement, this Agreement will be effective, and I will be deemed to have consented to, ratified and accepted this Agreement through my acceptance of and continued employment with TEKsystems, Inc.." TekSystems does this all the time. They also typically have bad quality positions with no name companies. Best to avoid them if you have other options
This is with Microsoft, but not sure if the position is good/bad quality... I guess you won't know until you start right
If it's a bad quality position, can you just quit? Do they make it an issue if you quit too early
