Update: Not Hinge, the dating app. In the loop with Hinge Health for a SWE role here in SF. Looked at recent Blind reviews & I see folks mention the CEO wants RTO (in other words, are soft layoffs coming soon?). This true? How's morale with many remote engineers/managers/PMs currently in the company? They got a timeline in which folks need to relocate? What's the roadmap looking like for hiring in RnD? Cool product and people so far, just iffy with how leaders are treating remote workers who've been remote for a while now. Thanks. #hingehealth
Morale is shit right now. Look somewhere else. Only a few groups have been asked to move but everyone is walking on eggshells.
Thanks for replying. That's a bummer, sorry to hear that. Somewhat deep in the process right now, so I guess we'll see since I'm already kinda in the Bay Area. Would you say morale is crap due to the sudden RTO? Or were there other things prior? I personally haven't heard my friends or my friend's friends move when they were asked to move. I wonder what leadership is thinking...
Check out the reviews, you will see steadily dropping scores. Leadership did too many changes too fast to hopefully IPO soon. They also wanted to induce attrition to lay people off without going through formal layoffs. Many people including tenured leaders have chosen to leave. Good luck to you. The people here are fantastic, though.
I think if you’re based in the Bay Area and don’t mind coming into an office it’s a much different vibe. A select group of individuals was asked to relocate due to their roles being high priority/visibility, but it wasn’t to get them or anyone else to leave voluntarily. Our CEO is prioritizing in person collaboration and it’s a chaotic shift considering the past 3-4 years of remote work for all.
Hiya, thanks for sharing that. Yea, I wouldn't mind going into an office 2 times a week (looks like 3 soon from the job post). Also, interesting, I imagine that if those folks aren't able to, or decide not to relocate, they'd get the boot, no? Obviously, no one wants that, but that seemed to be how other companies were operating when kicking off RTO. Don't know if you (or anyone else if they're reading) are in or have visited the office, but how is it? Once again, thanks for sharing.
I heard 3 days starting soon for RTO in SF. The office is nice if not a little sterile. Good location though, close to a lot of stuff.
Soft layoffs are happening right now and more will be coming soon. The RND org is in complete chaos at the moment, a lot of toxic shit going on from leadership. I think remote workers at this company right now range anywhere from pissed to fucking pissed.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I wouldn’t call it complete chaos or a soft layoff. That’s just my opinion though.
Same, just my opinion :-)
Any reorgs coming to RnD? Potential layoffs? I saw a large part of leadership is from Amazon, are they bringing any toxic practices from there? Thanks!
Would be good to know.
Just happened
Brooo ask the boys at hinge to unban me I was just joking
