I saw that they're increasing the performance metrics bar and internal transfer being blocked. Can anyone from Bloomberg throw more light on this. Is this true? Are there any such discussions in Bloomberg internal channel? I've an offer from them. If this is the case, then there is no point in switching from Amazon TC 270K
RTO 3 days and you'll be fine. That's the only thing they're being more strict or "toxic" about.
Isn't that the norm now?
Not the only thing, but most in your face. Also more hour tracking happening now.
Snowflakes labeling everything as toxic. No, BBG is super safe as always, they are making shittons of money, give engineers a good environment to thrive and have endless career opportunities. Unlike some faang-icorns which used to be the idol of the masses here, where people got stuck into a box and forgotten about with 0 expectations on what they deliver, because money was flowing in.
Sounds about right.
Who hurt you
Sounds like a lot of rumor mongering. RTO is 3 days a week but it's been like that for a while now. It was loosely enforced before and they're looking to have it applied more yeah but again the 3 day RTO was communicated a looong time ago. There are added performance metrics, which doesn't mean the bar is being increased. It's the other way around if you ask me. The metrics are about "extra curricular" activities or impact that you might have outside of your direct work (helping with interviewing, mentoring, impact and effect outside of your own team and projects etc). So these would serve as an extra push in the evals, not something to penalize on. I've never heard about internal transfers being blocked except in rare situations (and nothing in recent memory). Afaik, it's not even up to managers to make that decision. There was an internal decision a while back to prohibit blocking internal moves and exceptions would go through the department heads (so managers would need to escalate and have a case as to why they want to block the move). The only cashing in on the market down turn seems to be the stricter interview/admission bar and the maybe not as high offer - speaking of which, how much was yours?

YoE? That seems like a solid offer for a senior.
The performance metric change is just making visible the things we’ve been looking for more clearly. No change in the fundamentals of what’s considered ‘good’. Internal moves are only blocked if you’ve had a bad review. The idea is you improve before you move, to stop becoming someone else’s problem or jumping around without delivering anything. Again, no change here.
Occasionally, I've even seen people encouraged and helped to move when they have poor productivity as a way to see if they can succeed better in a different domain. But I don't know how widespread that is.
RTO is absolutely getting stricter. No experience with the other things you mentioned, but I would guess “toxic” is downstream from hurt feelings over RTO
Welcome to Bloomberg OP.
Thank you
Performance metrics changed to encourage more impact outside of just technical deliveries for your team. Everything else seems similar to before. As others said RTO 3 times per week has been communicated for over a year now. I haven’t seen any changes as far as more pressure or expectations. For most teams, it’s still a great job for stability and flexibility at a more than fair salary.
As far as toxicity on the bbg page, they aren’t wrong. But that’s just mostly from incessant rumor mongering.
Everyone I’ve met that’s come here from Amazon loves it here. Zero toxicity here. Just have to rto 3 days a week
Can I DM you about the interview please?

Who are these retards asking for dictatorship in India?
Whats the offer? Is it remote?
Bloomberg doesn't allow remote AFAIK. Most eng roles require 3 days in NYC office
I think it's somewhat dependent on which team you are a part of. If your teammates are all over the world london, singapore etc. you can get the remote option
