Had a team match call with Meta recently and a manager told me that currently about 80% of the company is E5 and above? Seems a bit high doesn’t it - last time I was in the job market there would be 1-2 seniors per team. TC - 130k #meta
This number is available to employees. It is not 80% E5 and above.
What’s the actual split like in your team/experience?
Anecdotally, product teams are more junior so they might have 1 e6 per team, many teams don’t have an e6. Product orgs might have 1 e7 per like, 50-150 engineers? Infra is more senior heavy so most teams have at least one e6. Multiple 7s and an 8 or two per director org (100-300). One of my teams is 7 people and has 2 6s and one 7
Yes, managers just promote everyone to E5 by default and hiring is also by default at E5
It's more like 50%. E3 and E4 about 35%, E6 10%
So E6 and above are within 5%?
E7 and above are 5%. E6 is 10%
How long did you wait in TM ? Are you general swe ?
I don’t know if it’s 80%, but E5 is where the majority of the bloat are across Meta.
Why? E4 not enough?
