Got an offer from DFS for a Senior Data Science Analyst role. Wondering what does the company do for its employees who used up their OPT and didn’t get the H1B. Do they offer internal transfer to teams based in other countries or you are just let go? How does the process look like? #discoverfinancialservices #h1b #greencard #opt #transfer #finance #dataanalyst
OP, this is a good question - do update once you get a response from HR. Also, if you used up your OPT and have only say 2-3 months left on your visa , how did Discover allow you to interview and give you an offer in the first place ?
Nah I’m just asking hypothetically
Just letting you know, if things don't work out with Discover which I hope they do for your visa situation, do remember there are cap exempt visa positions as well with universities or non-profit organizations if you would like to look into them as plan B if you wish to stay.
They just let you go
Hi Fscore, did you know anyone who was let go after exhausting h1b tries? Can you confirm that’s the company’s policy?
It’s in the offer letter
go for day 1 cpt! ping me if you want info. on colleges.
DFS does not support day 1 cpt. I asked HR before accepting their offer
@LibertyMutual Do you know if DFS accepts CPT for international students?
Got one dp from a friend, she said that one of her friends got transferred to China and now she’s back on L1
Op, do you know if DFS accepts CPT for international students?
They just let you go. HR immigration doesn’t support internal transfer to a different country. Personal experience
Do you know if DFS accepts CPT for international students?
No they don’t
It's an HR question. I haven't heard of them letting you move to other countries.
Hi can you confirm that’s what the company does? They just let people go? I do see that there are folks who switched locations from Chicago to UK after three or so years, assuming it’s an internal transfer
I honestly don't know about transfers across countries, never heard it. A friend was going to be out of status and was told she'd be let go if her approval didnt come in time. Never heard of any other options. Loop in your manager and see what HR says. Please do share what you find out. Wishing you the best.
