Note: I used to be the who would keep checking the phone every now and then. Is procrastinating and not productive. Have to pretend on standup to have done more than what’s actually done. After starting this below, I am super productive past 1 year. My performance rating went up and I feel accomplished most of the days. _________________________________ I follow Pomodoro method. I have a chrome extension called “Marinana”. Which will notify me when the times up. Every 30 minutes I take a 5 minutes break no matter what. I walk around, use washroom if needed, do some jumping jacks. Every 4 cycles of 30 minutes, I take a 20 minutes break. In that I check my phone or answer pending notifications. Just lay down and close my eyes for 10 minutes. After starting this, I feel like I am 2x more productive. Now I have to pretend that I am slow so that team doesn’t stuff me with work. Before I had to pretend that I am fast. My workdays are truly 8hrs a day for most days. Even while working at Amazon. Our brain tends to drift away from focus after 45 minutes. By following this method, I have been more engaged in my work. Overall more productive. Got motivated after watching this video: https://youtu.be/IlU-zDU6aQ0 Can just be a personal experience. But I hope it helps anyone who’s willing to try this. Peace. 190k / 3 YoE
How do you fit this into meeting heavy days?
I setup the schedule around meetings. Example: If there’s 90 minutes gap between two meetings, I will do two 30 minutes cycles.
Avoiding caffeine helps too.
I started coffee recently. Should i avoid it ? And why ?
It's addictive so induces withdrawls which in most cases is just restlessness. If you're an anxious person, it will worsen your situation. Overall, it also impacts sleep quality and productivity will suffer.
I use Focusmate which is like pomodoro + a person to keep you accountable
I think I’ll give this a try. Thanks op
Video is deleted from YouTube. 😔
thanks OP this has been a game changer for me . Been trying it for few months and feel more accomplished, can suggest what to do in the 5 minute breaks at the office though? It’s wierd to keep going to the break room / bathroom
I started using this as well. It has been helpful to my ADHD.
