Not Citadel Source: passed Citadel for SWE Their tech caliber and culture didn’t impress me based on my interviewers
What team were you interviewing at?
Also curious about which team and what you read into the tech culture from the interview process. Granted every team is different, but our team gets stuff done all the time and everyone is building important software that is getting shipped daily. Curious how your impression was different from just the interview process. Did you get an offer?

Jane Street > Citadel > Hudson
JS > Hudson >> citadel. Get fucked by all 3.
🦞😣
Just as a heads up, I would take answers from people in FAANG/non financial tech companies with a grain of salt. I remember seeing a poll on blind where people voted 2sigma as the most prestigious quant firm.....
So what’s your ranking?
Totally agree. Two Sigma is not the most prestigious quant firm. It's the most prestigious firm, period. No one out there can compete with us, that's why we're one of the top companies people on Blind try to get into. We are like the Chevrolet of tech firms.
Jane > Citadel > HRT
Depends on role/level. For intern HRT is easy if u can get the interview via referral apparently.
Never heard of this. Referral can get you the interview, but I’m pretty sure it’s not any easier
I meant to say the interviews are easy, the difficulty is just getting the interview
It’s tough to make a blanket statement, as it obviously depends a lot on role and team. I would argue that comparing “perceived hiring bars” between the three is splitting hairs, as each three have generally very high bars. That being said, I would probably rank Jane Street as being a hair higher.
Jane Street is a LOT higher than Citadel on average. Not even a question.
JS has less than 900 employees and HRT has half that in the ENTIRE company. That includes accounting, legal, tax, front office, and technology. Citadel AM has maybe 400 SWEs. We are talking about such small numbers that the likelihood you or anyone really has even met 5 SWEs at each one of them is incredibly small. Sure I will tip a hat to JS, but to say it is without question is mainly driven by memes rather than experience.
I would like to know too
