Do makers not realise how much users want durable and long lasting phones? It is also better on the environment. Help me out here wonderful users, push for long lasting mobile phones. 22k TC, non US 7YOE #apple #samsung #nokia #motorola #huawei #lg #xiaomi #htc #huawei #sony #tech
There are non. Most vendors don't give you updates for more than 2-3 years. Afterwards it is expensive trash.
Tend to agree as I keep my phone for years unless I shatter it. Still on iPhone 8, patiently waiting for Touch ID to return
Ya, I did wait for 3 years for touch ID and then switched to Samsung
Have to many apple products to really switch so I’m hopeful 😂😩
🚨ANTI CONSUMERISM THOUGHT ALERT🚨
I think once phone technology stabilizes more, then perhaps we’ll have long lasting phones. I feel it’s getting there. There were big new jumps in the past but lately it’s just little incremental updates here and there. I’ve had my iPhone for 4 years. Still happy with it. Don’t see much value in the new once.
my future self will time travel back to today and comment OP
using the beaming technology that will be standard on phones in 15 years....
Thats not easy, are several things to think about when developing electronics especially phones: - Hardware will get old, unreliable and even no longer supported because there will be new innovations and hardware releases every year - Phone needs OS, and OS updates always comes with new bugfixes and new features and they will need more intensive hardware in able to run the OS smoothly - Phone needs additional softwares, developer always need to catch up to latest OS and maintaining app support for old OS is painful (Yes, it does painful), because users need more features but sometimes its limited to the hardware capabilities. Its not just about environment, you have to think the harmony between software and hardware so user can still use it for a long time
Switch to Symbian. Buy multiple batteries 😅
I had a 3G for my throw away number for 7 years, but had to move to 4G when T-Mobile made the switch.
I still use my Apple iPhone 4 - the software is too outdated but the phone still works
Wait…..but why?!
Fair phone is designed to be components replaceable. So you can replace part with more updated components overtime easily without special tool. Only available in eu though
That doesn’t sound very profitable for the companies
