Is the blood bath going to end? https://fortune.com/2023/11/09/exclusive-unicorn-carta-lays-off-another-round-of-employees/
The beatings will continue until morale improves
Paradox
Just need bytedance to layoff. Until then the economy is going strong
It's reported it has 1800 employees as of this summer (after the layoff in Jan)? Why does it need 1800 people for the products they offer? It's still bloated it seems
Carta is a solution that exists mainly for the SMB market in hopes that the SMB scales into bigger fish. Therefore, it is bloated still with a convoluted product line that doesn’t make much sense sometimes but the need for employees is costs to service SMB clients are high as well. A lot of those service based employees are outsourced.
That 1800 is after a layoff of like 250 in January, and Carta had about 1100 in June 2021. Scaled way too fast with a culture of shipping new small things all the time and weren't disciplined about focus and end-to-end quality. It's unfortunate that the “unicorn" momentum had so much influence on near term business decisions (to grow quickly and hire) because the long term strategy is pretty solid IF diligently and sustainably pursued. But that would require mature and wise leadership..

Really hasn't been a blood bath.
