I received an offer to work at Twilio and would love to know more about the company! How is the overall culture? Since the CEO comes from Amazon, is it similar to there? How is the performance culture? Is it easy to get into PIP if performing badly? How is the transfer culture? Easy to transfer to a different team? What about transfers between offices? How easy is it to travel to other offices? Does it require a lot of approvals or pretty easy? Do people fly business or economy? Thanks guys! IC5 TC: 250k

Yeah it matters a fair bit. For example sales travel quite often, while for say SDE there's no reason to visit other offices so the company wouldn't foot the bill. Similarly the way different teams are run significantly affect their transfer culture, performance management, etc. Only thing I can answer without more detail is that no, it's not run like Amazon. Our CEO and COO really define the culture based on their own personalities. If anything it's getting more and more like Salesforce rather than Amazon

Apart from using aws we don’t use anything else like amazon. No politics and BS. People are good and actually care about maintaining good culture. Currently working at twlo
It is similar to Amazon but even worse in terms of vision and execution. I would say even more political as not only managers but engineers are also expected to play politics. One politically wrong opinion expressed in a meeting can easily land you in PIP. They put people in PIP very easily and don't even offer a reasonable severance like Amazon because managers decide the severance for each case and it hits their budgets.
At other opinions i see different answers. Surprised to see this answer. I was considering to apply to twilio, but now would rethink.
Any pip instance you wanna share. I havent seen much about this at twilio at blind. Everywhere its about amazon or microsoft. At twilio, Was it genuine case or pushed upon?
