Does anyone else find this term subtly derogatory? Like white isn’t a color? Why bucket so many diverse groups into a single umbrella term. It’s seems like just another excuse for white people to set themselves apart from everyone else. I hate when this term is used and I hate it even more when someone non white uses it to refer to themselves. Your identity is your skin color? Really? Why is everything from white perspective?
lol who cares?
You can call white people colorless … colorless people and people of color ..
Better question is why person of color is ok but colored person is wrong.
Person of “color” here. Every time a non white person refers to themselves as a person of color, I feel like they have an inferiority complex. People, have some pride and stop downgrading yourself.
Why is calling oneself a person of color "downgrading"?
why are you using a useless term made by the white racist woke? it doesn't mean anything except that you're not "white". you're defining yourself by your skin not being a color. that's reducing yourself to a meaningless concept. I always introduce myself using my name, country of birth and ethnicity.
Because in the US, whites are the majority and naturally they set the narrative. So anything not-white is the other. "Person of color" is thing used when people want to avoid terms like black, brown etc. Basic human nature.
Person of color sounds more polite than saying “non-white”.
CCP troll? This is too stupid to be real.
Russian bots are responsible for leftist outrage
It's always struck me as problematic. It's bifurcating all of humanity into two groups: White and POC. That's the kind of binary thinking that leads to unkind places, historically.
Pencils ✏️ of color
Nope. Maybe ask yourself why you’re so bothered by other people using it to refer to themselves?
Are you a person of color? Does it bother you? If it does, then don’t use it to refer to yourself and MoveOn.
