Had a FB phone interview the other day. I was able to solve the first question optimally. Spoke through my process, but the question was such that manually testing it would be a pain (this question is also like 40-50 lines of code to get right). I walked through the code to validate there are no bugs and fixed a few on the way and the interviewer just said to move on to the next question and skip the dry test run. I accidentally said the wrong complexity on this problem, not because I didn't know it, but just because I had a brain fart. I corrected myself when the interviewer prodded a bit and explained my answer to show I knew what I was talking about. I also solved the second problem, this time with test runs and more thought process outlined since it's a much smaller answer to write out (more time spent explaining, less time trying to frantically fit the answer in a call) I got the complexities right, but couldn't answer the follow up on how to make it use less space (I had a few ideas though). The leetcode version of this question doesn't even go into how to make it use less space on the solutions page, you'd have to dig into the discussion section for this. I didn't need any hints except for that last follow up to question 2. I also like to think my code was relatively clean since I've been prepping on leetcode for so long that I kinda know the patterns at this point. It's been a few days now, and I'm getting somewhat nervous over the sort of Limbo I'm in. I imagine that I did better than most phone screen candidates who are usually just unprepared and don't really LC, but then again, I didn't do absolutely perfectly myself. I heard that you get a pass if you have like a 25% chance of clearing the on-site; is that true? EDIT: Just heard back, I'm going onsite. Turns out my interviewer just forgot to input feedback for about a week and my recruiter had to push him a bit after I reached out lol
I think people generally hear back after a week or so, just hold on tight and good luck
Youll get thru ! Best of luck and let us know!
Were the problems are Leet code tagged?
Yeah, it's all leetcode.
I had similar experience, I had 1 question and solved it optimally, then he asked if I can do it with O(1) space and I went ahead and tried to and I made it more efficient but worst case will always be O(n). Every solution on leetcode doesn’t have any with O(1) space. I feel like I’m going to be rejected :(
Just be patient. If 2 weeks pass since the interview and you still haven't heard anything, reach back out to the recruiter for an update
