My partner has recently been diagnosed with a rare disease. In the past, we have been going to Walgreens for all our medical needs which is nearby our home. And lately, we have had to deal with so many prescriptions (from different medications). What we are going through right now is that Walgreens hasn’t been able to fulfill some of the prescriptions (ordered by the doc). They either refer us to some other Walgreens store in the next city or report that the prescription is unavailable as it is uncommon and it would take weeks to arrive at their store. This has caused some frustration and confusion since we have been running to a couple of Walgreens in the Bay Area and nobody can help with the prescription. Should we consider changing the pharmacy? PS: we tried calling CVS and they too didn’t have it over the weekend. #health #wellbeing #mentalhealth
Larger stores have better supply chain, try Costco, Walmart, etc
Also, hospitals also have pharmacies that have meds in stocks, albeit in weird quantities
My understanding was that you need to have the doctor send the prescription over to the pharmacy and also your insurance needs to be able to work with the pharmacy
Ask your doctor to send to a couple different pharmacies. As others have said Walmart has been a good option for me. If you haven’t already, try GoodRX. Even if you have insurance some of their prices are still better than using your own insurance. They also show what a given medication costs at a bunch of different pharmacies. It’s a great (and free) resource.
Ask your insurance company. Most likely, they want you using mail order for a specialty prescription and they will recommend providers that they work with.
Amazon
🤡 Who wants to disclose their health data directly to a firm claiming it’s “too big to fail”?
OP needs rare medicine Besides nobody cares about you as an individual, your data is just another point in a graph. They care about patterns.
Thanks guys! Will definitely look into Walmart or Costco pharmacy as options.
Try Walmart, or costplusdrugs.com
