Does anyone knows the Work culture at Emerson electric for software engineers? TIA:) TC: 0 YOE: 3 years
Depends on which part. I assume you're talking about Austin (QVC). Pay is not very competitive. We've had a very hard time getting devs. While a large part of that is that a large chunk of our work is embedded, we've seen that the average age/tenure has plummeted in recent years. If you come here, negotiate high, because the loyalty tax is fairly steep here. The people are great, but I think the above is a risk (retainment). No real standout issues other than normal people friction. Low pressure if you think about actual consequences, but lots of griping. Work format is "agile" in the form of SAFe. If you know SAFe and the common issues, those are here. Scant investment in enablement or change at other levels. Still a bit command/control by folks who haven't been involved in years. Because folks above make promises, it's majority scope/schedule. You'll feel like you're always behind even when the metrics are hit since I suspect mgt is doing kabuki and our PMs just changed their regular thinking to match work processes. If you're early in YoE, the team you get on is very important. Some teams leave their new hires to twist in the wind for a year+.
