Anybody here in Blind community who has experience with filing H4 EAD expedite request with USCIS? I’m was working with F1 STEM OPT EAD card. But my work authorization expired month ago. But my spouse’s employer filed COS to H4 before it. So I’m on H4 visa since then and I applied for unpaid LOA with my employer. In meantime, my spouse’s i140 has also been approved and now I’m filing i765 for H4 EAD. I know there’s no premium processing available for H4 EAD right now, but I found a page on USCIS website for expediting the request. I’m reading different blogs and they all are saying it’s not guaranteed that USCIS will consider it. Is anybody reached out USCIS to expedite using severe financial loss to person and company? You'll have to call them to make the request, but they will mostly decline it or just not take any action. I, unfortunately, had to go through this twice. But the processing times were running into 9+ months during that period. I don't think it helped. But it doesn't hurt to give it a shot, does it? Just don't expect anything. Processing times are more reasonable these days, so your wait may not be too long. Good luck!
Thanks hrshma for sharing your experience. Yeah I’ll surely give it a try. I still see 6 months for standalone H4 EAD application on USCIS website. I hope this gets better when it’s my turn or they approve my expedite request.
Is there a biometric requirement for first time applications? If not, then yours might even come sooner. The timeline you see is based on the oldest application they are still working on (pending). It doesn't mean more recent (less than 6 months) applications haven't been processed and approved in the meantime. I've heard this from multiple sources.
