OP is definitely a success in life. And you are reaching a level that is higher than 99% engineers in blind. I am an upcoming PHD student in machine learning and don’t really know much about high level positions in big companies. I wonder if I can ask a question regarding on job opportunities as a CS PhD and which research filed might lead to a good job prospect? I am an upcoming PhD student in A public university in the midwest and really want to join one of the tech companies and hopefully I can aspire to make a TC comparable to yours in the future. I wonder what research field does OP think might be good for a student to pursue in order to land a good job after graduation? I really hope to be in a field that is in high demand and there are many companies that are hiring for the positions (large FAANG or small companies). Based on your experience and the team/people you managed, I wonder if OP can shed some light on what research field that might be good for job prospect? It will really help me in my 5 year PhD journey by a lot. I have been thinking about doing data mining with the intersection of NLP and information retrieval. I am just thinking that maybe there are a lot of demands of ads ranking/personalization or saas data mining area. Maybe it is a bad field/idea and I should do something else like computer vision? Thanks a lot.

Those are open ended design problems, and in my case was given a topic to prepare and then it was like a panel discussion with 1Dir and 1Sr Manager
