California State people, here's a quick summary of the propositions that are on for this fall: Prop 1 : 4 billion dollars into housing Prop 2: Spends Millionaire's tax to pay for housing for homeless people who are mentally ill Prop 3: 8.9 B for water projects Prop 4: 1.5B for Hospitals Prop 5 : Property discount tax to elders when they move Prop 6: Repeals last year's gas tax + future gas taxes must be approved by voters Prop 7: Day light savings permanent Prop 8: Capping Dialysis Clinic profit Prop 10: Legalizing Rent Control Prop 11: EMTs must be on call during breaks Prop 12: space requirement for animals in farms What are your thoughts? How are you voting?
Prop seven seems rational, not sure about the rest
Prop five sounds like a cruel joke. These elders of the ones who capitalize the most from decades of appreciation plus prop 13 taxes. is that generation seriously looking for another hand out?
As far as I could tell, It has one group funding it - California realtors association... probably a handout of some kind but seniors are not the main beneficiaries.
Logic of it could be that it might free up housing in urban areas. Give those who live but no longer work in Sillicon Valley an extra incentive to sell. More people moving out means cheaper housing? Not advocating either way, just a thought
None - direct democracy is a terrible fucking idea. It’s why the Founders tried to prevent it as much as possible.
Most of the initiatives are heavily funded by industry groups, some single-issue groups and so on. It’s not direct democracy, it’s just a different way for the same wealthy players to introduce legislation - that’s why these often have deliberately misleading descriptions and names.
If all citizens are voting on it, how is it not direct democracy?
CA is soooo fucked.
By default, vote No on all propositions. We elect lawmakers to make laws and if they are unable to do that and want to push the work back to voters, why the F are we paying them? That said, here's my personal opinions on each of the CA props: 1. Yes. This isn't the worst idea and we need more housing. 2. No. The money is meant to be spent on mental health, not on housing. The mental health crisis is real. Let's not take money away from it to fix another problem. This one is very nuanced, so read it well before voting. 3. Don't know. 4. Yes, we need to fund children's hospitals and this isn't a bad way to do it. 5. F U C K! N O!!! N O! F U C K I N G! W A Y 6. No. I prefer bridges that don't collapse. Also, I don't want to vote every time a tax needs to be passed. 7. No. I want to find the idiots who put such time wasting ideas on the ballot and fire them. 8. No. This doesn't directly benefit patients. It only helps insurance companies. I hate the healthcare system, but I hate insurance companies more. 10. No. Rent control is a hack. Let's not make it hackier. Let's fix the housing crisis instead. 11. No. EMTs are adults. We should not be legislating how they spend their breaks. 12. No. Eh, have no idea why anyone thinks we are qualified to vote on this technicality.
Prop 6 is a must. The gas tax is yet another tax that was created to fund roads that have previously been funded many times. Too much taxes!
YES on 6 & 8. Rest don’t give a fuck!
Why Yes on 6? Do you like bridges that collapse?
How much do you wanna pay in taxes? Its funny that only bridges and roads in CA are falling apart. What about those other states?
Yes on 6, no everything else.
Yes on 6, no everything else.
6/7。what is EMT?
Emergency Medical Technician: People in the ambulances. Currently they aren't on call during breaks.
They shouldn’t have to be!
