GM folks. I bought a 2024 Trax last year and love it, but when are you guys coming out with a hybrid version. As is I think the Trax is the best or second best small SUV seller in the country so why not go all the way and encompass the hybrid market too?
I believe the hybrid got axed last week actually, but not totally sure
Bummer, I think GM should stop releasing 6+ different trim levels for every model and just stick to up to four: Base, Premium, Hybrid, and EV when it made sense
Because bigger batteries are reserved for more expensive cars.
I'd gladly pay $30K for a hybrid Trax. The most expensive one is $25K. I honestly think GM is sleeping on a great opportunity
You are forgetting competing resource priorities. EVs use the same batteries and more of it. They have competing strategic EV priorities that take precedent over ice/hybrid. The ICE trucks and SUVs are the money makers, not cheap cars like the trax anyways. A nice Chevy large SUV or truck is triple or quadruple the price of a trax, so they don't need as many buyers. It sucks, but a trax hybrid is unlikely to compete well against Kia and Toyota.
