A monster is a person who has stopped pretending

~ colson whitehead What do you think? To the people voting No, do you believe that the characters that we display are our innate true ones? Don't you think its a training of the society? We don't actually feel guilt or empathy in some cases, we were taught to do so. Ig we were taught to be ruthless, I guess We'd do that too.

Depends who is hiding. Not always a monster comes out. A child might come out as well. E.g see movie Mask.

It's an interesting viewpoint. Humans get influenced or mimics mostly to what their parents or what they have seen growing up. Other influences like media, public, friends, add onto it. Humans formed a pact of arbitrary morals and ethics to make a few feel guilty for some of their actions so that the majority can live in peace(or their comforts). If these bindings weren't there in the first place, consciousness would have been open but there still might be some neurological or biological factors that might make a person feel something as gross or guilty to commit a serious crime. Society is probably expanding that thousands of times so that everyone feels like they're in a safe space.
