Offer eval Amazon vs Snowflake
Current Amzn comp (2024) is due to stock appreciation. 2025 TCT will be 454K. Snowflake’s base is a lot better but benefits are even worse than Amzn 🤯 Don’t have a competing offer yet

Team is the worst, which is why I interviewed but it’ll be easier to change the team than getting a better external offer
Might as well try out the snowflake job. Heard perf can be very demanding, much more so than Amazon. However as an L6 with good ratings you can easily come back within a year, or longer if you have a VP connection
I have heard Snowflake performance review process is rigorous. Similar to Amazon I guess
Why do you want to leave when comp is less ? Can you not switch teams ?
That’s what I would try next. I got sick of my current work and interviewed to see if I can get something better wrt comp or level or wlb or type of work etc
Your comp is high and might be tough to get matched with other companies, try negotiating with them to match the current salary then it’s worth the change. I do see new roles opening for L6 so you should fine new team easily.
I joined Snowflake from AWS and found the benefits are better at SNOW. There’s no 401K match but there’s after tax and ESPP, much more generous parental leave, and similar healthcare benefits. The bar has been higher at Snowflake and the performance process more rigorous. I have worse WLB here than AWS.
I’m single no kids so a lot of those benefits don’t make much difference to me. Would you go back to AWS due to wlb and perf reviews?
I would be open to going back one day but planning to stay at SNOW for the foreseeable. I have incredibly talented colleagues, trust in the leadership and overall direction, think we are building an interesting product, and my comp is better.
Snowflake IC3 can go up to 575K.
